About this practice session

This page turns the YouTube video “Hailey Bieber’s Quick Everyday Morning Routine | Beauty Secrets | Vogue” into an English shadowing exercise. The recording is split into 228 short sentences that you can play one at a time, repeat after the speaker and record your own version for automatic pronunciation scoring.

How to practise with this video

  1. Play the first sentence and listen while reading the transcript. Notice the stress, the pauses and where the intonation rises or falls.
  2. Replay it and speak along with the speaker, copying the rhythm rather than reading word by word.
  3. Record yourself straight after the original. ShadowEcho scores each word for accuracy, fluency and completeness.
  4. Compare your recording with the original, retry the words marked in red, then move on to the next sentence.
  5. Practise 10–15 minutes a day. Coming back to the same video after a few days is an easy way to measure progress.

Transcript (English)

  1. Hi, Vogue. It's Haley, and I'm going to
  2. be showing you guys my everyday morning
  3. routine and go-to look. So, in terms of
  4. my skincare, I like to keep it super
  5. super simple in the daytime. I feel like
  6. nighttime is more so where I'm slathered
  7. and lthered and glazed and baking so
  8. that I can wake up in the morning and
  9. not have to do much. I don't usually
  10. wash my face in the morning. I will get
  11. up, I'll rinse it with water, I will use
  12. a tongue scraper, brush my teeth, oil
  13. pulling. That's kind of like my morning
  14. ritual that I do. So, what I like to
  15. start with every day is a good
  16. facial spray.
  17. And sometimes when I'm really busy in
  18. the morning, running out the door,
  19. rushing out, up with my son, I will
  20. literally just spray my face and I'll
  21. walk out the door. And the next step is
  22. our road glazing milk. I love the
  23. Blazing Milk. I've talked about it a
  24. million times. I couldn't say enough
  25. things about it. I use it in the
  26. morning, at night as makeup prep. I use
  27. it mixed with my foundation to kind of
  28. sheer out the foundation and give your
  29. skin this really beautiful luminous
  30. second skin kind of a look. It's just
  31. such a staple for me and I really could
  32. not live without it. I found that since
  33. becoming a mom, I'm gravitating towards
  34. things and looking for more things that
  35. make my routine a lot easier and a lot
  36. simpler. And now
  37. sunscreen. I love sunscreen that's
  38. really hydrating that's going to also
  39. make your skin glowy.
  40. I typically gravitate towards like
  41. milkier sunscreens or like a really nice
  42. tinted sunscreen. I feel like finding
  43. the right sunscreen just takes trial and
  44. error because one of the things that
  45. breaks me out the most is sunscreen.
  46. Whenever I go to Paris or I go to
  47. Europe, I love to go to the pharmacy and
  48. like raid the sunare section because I
  49. just think the sunscreens from Europe
  50. are so much better than in the US.
  51. They're my favorite. And this one I got
  52. at the pharmacy when I was in Paris the
  53. last time and I'm obsessed with it and I
  54. wish that I bought five. When I have
  55. leftover, I rub it on my hands because
  56. when you're driving and it's sunny, I
  57. just feel like your hands get the brunt
  58. of aging. I am not somebody who really
  59. likes to wear makeup a lot in the
  60. daytime. I keep things very, very, very
  61. simple. So, usually just do the tiniest
  62. bit of concealer
  63. in just a couple areas for brightening.
  64. I'm using a brush right now, but a lot
  65. of the time when I'm just home, I
  66. literally just take my finger
  67. and I just spread it out.
  68. and rub it in like that. I I have yet to
  69. find something that I think is a better
  70. applicator for makeup than your finger.
  71. I'm not trying to get too scientific
  72. with it, but I do think it has something
  73. to do with like the skin-to-skin
  74. contact. I just think it gives a more
  75. effortless look. I don't like to use
  76. foundation during the day because I
  77. really like the feeling of my skin being
  78. able to breathe. Um, and I also find
  79. that sometimes foundation feels a lot
  80. heavier and a lot thicker than concealer
  81. does. Concealer to me feels a lot
  82. lighter on the skin. I'm somebody who is
  83. very skincare obsessed. I put a lot of
  84. effort into my skin and keeping my skin
  85. in good health and keeping my body in
  86. good health. So, I feel like I I want to
  87. not cover it up too much. It's also like
  88. sometimes it's just easier to control on
  89. the skin. Something I've been doing a
  90. lot lately too that I really like is
  91. taking an eye brightener.
  92. This is like a pink eye brightener.
  93. I just put a little bit in the corner
  94. here and here
  95. and randomly here.
  96. And I just feel like it gives a
  97. luminosity to the skin and to the face.
  98. Usually, you're supposed to put eye
  99. brightener and like color correctors
  100. under your concealer, but I've been
  101. liking it over.
  102. I think that it's meant to be for
  103. correcting any like discoloration or
  104. dark under eyes or any, you know,
  105. redness, red marks, anything like that.
  106. So, I think when you think about it that
  107. way, putting the color correction on
  108. first will neutralize it and then you
  109. put the concealer over top to really
  110. seal it all in. I'm just kind of
  111. reversing that because I think what I
  112. like about the eye brighteners is the
  113. brightening effect. So, I want to see
  114. that over top. So, there's that.
  115. Sometimes I'll just take the teeniest
  116. bit of powder just to kind of like lock
  117. it in right here. This doesn't barely
  118. has any powder on it anyway cuz it's
  119. just left over on the brush. I don't
  120. actually have any. Okay.
  121. Little bit of eyebrow gel
  122. blush.
  123. The way that I apply it is I either like
  124. to put it on my finger and tap it in or
  125. put it directly to the skin or I will
  126. sometimes take a brush and tap it and do
  127. it with a brush. It really just depends
  128. on what I'm feeling. And sometimes if
  129. I'm doing more of a makeup look, I'll
  130. use a brush because I have a little bit
  131. more control. But when I'm doing
  132. something way more minimal like I am
  133. right now, I prefer to use um direct to
  134. the skin and use my finger just to blend
  135. it in. I feel like picking the right
  136. blush colors for you is also the same
  137. that I said about finding the right
  138. sunscreen for you. I think it's about
  139. trial and error. I think that everybody
  140. has different undertones to their skin.
  141. Everybody has different colors that they
  142. gravitate towards and that they don't
  143. what they like, what they don't like.
  144. I'm somebody who likes pinkier but like
  145. more neutral like a beigy pink kind of a
  146. blush or like a baby pink kind of a
  147. blush. It also just like depends what
  148. I'm feeling at the time and depends on
  149. my mood. So, you never know. Okay, next
  150. thing is freckles.
  151. Sometimes when I'm
  152. running out to the gym, I will just do a
  153. little bit of face mist and I'll brush
  154. up my eyebrows and just put freckles on
  155. cuz I like the enhancement that the
  156. freckles
  157. bring. I feel like enhancing your
  158. freckles gives like a youthfulness to
  159. you to your skin
  160. that I think is really cute. Whether you
  161. have natural freckles to enhance or not,
  162. it doesn't really matter. I think if
  163. you're into it and you like the way it
  164. looks, you can totally just create your
  165. own. I think that's pretty much what
  166. they were made for in the first place.
  167. had makeup artists that were enhancing
  168. my real freckles. And then I started
  169. seeing my freckles multiplying from
  170. being in the sun and being outside. And
  171. I realized the more I would see makeup
  172. artists enhancing my freckles, the more
  173. I liked it and wanted to incorporate it
  174. on a day-to-day basis. Last but not
  175. least,
  176. lip. Um, these are our lip contours.
  177. And the thing, the reason that I made
  178. these was exactly for what we're
  179. discussing in this video. A really
  180. natural, just enhancing the natural lip,
  181. giving a little bit more fullness and
  182. volume to the lip. All of the things I
  183. make at Road are these really hybrid
  184. products where it's like skin care and
  185. makeup combined. And with the lip
  186. contour, it really is infused with great
  187. skinincare. And I wanted it to be that
  188. way because I wanted it to be super
  189. super natural.
  190. I feel like it just gives the most
  191. natural subtle
  192. look to the lips, but you can still see
  193. there's a little something there. I also
  194. use these in every single one of my lip
  195. combos. This is always the thing that I
  196. start with. Just clean it up a little
  197. bit.
  198. I don't use mascara during the day. It
  199. really started because I just kept
  200. forgetting to use it in my makeup
