Is ShadowEcho free?

Yes. You can add videos and practise for free. Some features, such as pronunciation scoring, have daily limits to keep the service sustainable. The site is supported by ads and voluntary donations.

Which languages are supported?

The interface is available in 18 languages. For practice, any YouTube video with subtitles can be used; pronunciation scoring works best for widely spoken languages supported by Azure Speech.

Which videos work best?

Videos with clear audio and accurate subtitles, ideally one speaker at a normal pace. If a video has no usable subtitles, you can request an AI transcription once you have verified your email.

Do you store my recordings?

Recordings are sent to Azure Speech only to compute your score and are not kept permanently. See the privacy policy for details.

Do I need an account?

You can browse public videos and listen without one. An account is required to record, receive pronunciation feedback and track your progress.

How do I delete my account?

Open the user menu and choose delete account. All your data is permanently removed.

A video will not load. What can I do?

Some videos restrict embedding or have no captions. Try another video, and if the problem persists, contact us with the link.
